Rack & Asset Management Guide
Learn how to register Racks, which are physical units within a datacenter, and manage server placement status.
📋 Overview
Rack Management digitally simulates the physical space occupied by servers within a datacenter. This allows for efficient management of floor space utilization and immediate identification of physical locations during equipment inspections.
🛠️ Key Management Features
1. Rack Registration
Create a virtual rack by specifying an ID and a datacenter.
- Rack ID: Assign a distinguishable number within the center (e.g., R-01, A-12).
- Unit (U) Setup: Set a standard 42U or custom height.
2. Server Placement (Drag & Drop)
You can click a registered server and place it in a specific Unit position on the rack.
- Consistency with Actual Location: For management efficiency, ensure settings match the actual physical placement.
3. Power & Load Management
Prevent overloads by checking the estimated total power consumption of equipment connected to each rack.
🔍 Usage Scenarios
- Locating Failed Servers: If an issue occurs, verify which rack and unit the server is in and relay the exact location to on-site workers.
- Determining Available Space: When introducing new servers, search for empty rack spaces to select the optimal placement location.
💡 Important Notes
- Avoid Duplication: You cannot register more than one server in the same Unit space.
